Lot Boss Privacy Policy

Lot Boss is a crowdsourced map of free, validated and paid parking in Nashville. It is run by Tony Gulley, an individual in Nashville, Tennessee. This policy explains what the site and app collect, why, who else sees it, and how to get it removed.
This is written to be read, not to be survived. If something below is unclear, email hello@lotboss.io and it will get fixed.
The short version
- You can use the whole map without an account and without telling us anything about yourself.
- If you turn on "Near me," your location stays on your device. It is never sent to us.
- If you give us an email address, we keep it until you ask us to remove it.
- We do not sell your information, and we never will.
- There are no ads on Lot Boss and no advertising trackers.
What we collect
If you just use the map
A device identifier. The first time you open Lot Boss, your browser generates a random identifier and stores it on your device. It is a random string, not your name, your phone's serial number or anything tied to you personally. It is attached to requests you send us so that one device cannot submit the same confirmation twenty times. It is deleted if you delete your account or clear your browser storage.
Your IP address, temporarily. When you submit something, our servers see your IP address, as any web server does. We use it only to limit how many submissions come from one place in an hour. These records live in memory and are erased whenever the server restarts. We do not store them in our database.
Local settings on your device. Your saved spots, your preferred maps app, whether you have dismissed certain prompts, and similar preferences are stored in your own browser and are not sent to us.
If you use "Near me"
Your location stays on your device. When you tap "Near me," your browser gives the page your coordinates. Lot Boss uses them to place a marker on the map, recenter the view, and sort spots by distance. Those coordinates are not sent to our servers, not stored, and not shared with anyone.
One honest caveat: after the map recenters on you, the map tiles for that area are requested from our map providers, which tells them roughly what part of the city is on your screen. That is how any web map works. It is a general area, not a precise position, and Lot Boss does not send them your coordinates.
If you give us an email address
You can join the waitlist for app updates, or sign in with an email link. Either way we store the email address you type.
If you sign in, we also store an account identifier from Firebase, and optionally a handle, chosen neighborhoods and notification preferences.
If you submit a spot, tip or code while signed in, we keep your email address on that submission so we can tell you when it goes live. Deleting your account clears it.
If you submit a spot, a correction or a confirmation
We store what you submitted: the place name, coordinates, your notes, and whether you said a spot was still accurate or had changed. If you are signed in, your account identifier is attached so you can delete it later. If you chose a public handle, the handle may appear alongside a suggestion you submitted.
Anything you submit about parking may be published on the map after we review it. Nothing goes live automatically. Do not put personal information in a parking note.
If something breaks
When a page errors, the site sends us a short automatic report so it can be fixed. It contains the error message, the line of code, the page address you were on, and your browser's user agent string. Our server adds your IP address to that report and writes it to our hosting provider's logs. It is not stored in our database and is not shared with anyone.
Who else sees your information
Lot Boss uses a small number of outside services. Each one is listed here with what it actually receives.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta, TikTok or any advertising pixel.
About session replay. Microsoft Clarity records how people move through the site: which pages you open, where you tap, where you scroll. It plays back as a reconstruction of the screen, not a video of you. Anything you type into a box or pick from a menu is masked before it leaves your device, so we never see it. It runs on the Lot Boss website only. We use it to find broken and confusing parts of the site, nothing else.
How long we keep things
Email addresses are kept until you ask us to remove them. People who join the waitlist have asked to hear from us, and we hold the address so we can. Every email we send includes a way to be removed, and you can also email hello@lotboss.io at any time and ask.
Submissions and confirmations are kept. The parking data is the point of the project, and its history is what lets us tell whether a spot has gone stale. If you delete your account, your submissions stay on the map but are no longer linked to you.
Server logs are kept by our hosting provider on their retention schedule and are not something we maintain separately.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside Lot Boss. When you do:
- Your sign-in account is removed
- Your profile and public handle are deleted, and the handle becomes available again
- Your account identifier is stripped from every submission and confirmation you made
- Your email address is removed from the waitlist, if you joined it while signed in
- The device identifier on your device is cleared
One limit worth stating plainly: if you joined the waitlist before you ever signed in, that email address is not linked to an account, so deleting your account does not find it. Email hello@lotboss.io and it will be removed by hand.
The parking information you contributed stays on the map, unlinked from you. If you want a specific submission taken down, email hello@lotboss.io.
Children
Lot Boss is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email hello@lotboss.io and it will be deleted.
Your choices
- Use the map without an account. Everything on the map is visible without signing in.
- Decline location access. The map works fine without it.
- Ask what we have on you. Email hello@lotboss.io and we will tell you.
- Ask us to delete it. Same address, and we will.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights over your information. We will honor those requests regardless of where you live, because the list above is short enough that there is no reason not to.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who sees it, the date at the top will change and the change will be described here. We will not start collecting something new and quietly backdate the disclosure.
